Sheriff Tate has received confirmation from Senator Jay Trumbull and Representative Shane Abbott that Governor Ron DeSantis will be issuing a State of Emergency for Holmes County following yesterday’s tornado.
This declaration will aid in cleanup efforts on private property and bring additional state resources to assist our local crews in helping citizens recover from the damage. County officials are meeting this afternoon to finalize a plan of action, and we ask for your patience as those efforts begin.
We also ask the community to remain patient as linemen continue working diligently in challenging weather conditions to restore power. Dozens of utility workers are in the field, even in the rain, striving to return service as quickly and safely as possible.
Sheriff Tate would like to extend his sincere thanks to Senator Trumbull and Representative Abbott for their swift assistance in working with the Governor’s Office to secure the State of Emergency. Both have consistently stood with Holmes County in times of need—and once again, they have come through for us.
Thank you, Governor DeSantis, for looking out for Holmes County.
Your swift action in declaring a State of Emergency will make a real difference in helping our citizens recover. We’re grateful for your support in our time of need.
Holmes County is resilient, and together, we will recover.
