Chipley, Florida Garden Club Proclaims National Garden Week, June 1-7, 2025

Posted on May 14, 2025

The City of Chipley, Chipley Garden Club, and National Garden Club have proclaimed the week of June 1-7, 2025 as National Garden Week. To announce the week and celebrate Memorial Day, the garden club will be placing Monarch spinners and USA flags in the downtown pots. How many can you find?

Tuesday, June 3 from 10:30-11:30am, club members will be at the Washington Co. Council on Aging making Tiny Terrariums with the clients. If you’re over 60, join us!

Wednesday, June 4 from 10Am-1PM, the club will be sponsoring free children’s activities in the Chipley Library conference room. Activities include tiny terrarium making, Fun with Flowers, herbs, recycling, wildflowers, bees, birds, and more.

Friday, June 6 from 9AM-1PM, “Chalk It Up to Flowers” will be happening at the Washington County Historical Society, or rather on the sidewalks there! Young, old and in-between are invited to be creative and “plant” our sidewalks with chalk flowers, garden scenes, birds, and butterflies. Don’t have chalk? Don’t worry – it will be provided free. Our butterfly backdrops will be up for photo ops!

So, how can you participate? Plant some flowers, vegetables, or a tree, visit the Chipley Farmers Market, refresh your home landscape, or do a “no mow” on your lawn for our pollinators. Visit Falling Waters State Park and enjoy a nature walk, the waterfall, the butterfly garden, or go for a swim. Take a moment and smell the roses.

This is an excellent opportunity to show pride in our community. Join us as we celebrate National Garden Week. For more information, please contact Chipley Garden Club at 850-260-4049.
