Marginal Risk of Severe Northwest Florida Storms Saturday and Sunday, May 24 & 25, 2025

Posted on May 23, 2025

There is a Marginal Risk for Severe Storms (Level 1 of 5) across portions of SE Alabama for Saturday.

There is a Marginal Risk for Severe Storms (Level 1 of 5) across SE Alabama, SW Georgia, and inland portions of the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend.

The primary threat for both days is damaging straight line winds.

A frontal boundary will sag into the region over the weekend, helping to increase the chances for isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms. A few of these storms may be strong to severe, with damaging wind gusts being the primary hazard.

For Saturday, the best chance for stronger storms is across portions of SE Alabama where there is a Marginal Risk of Severe Storms (Level 1 of 5).

By Sunday, the risk area expands to include most inland portions of the tri-state area, where there is now a Marginal Risk of Severe Storms (Level 1 of 5).

Severe thunderstorms are possible across parts of the southern Plains Thursday, with large hail the main threat. A few instances of 2+ inch diameter hail are possible. A storm system moving north along the New England coast will bring heavy rain and gusty winds to the region Thursday and Friday.
