Johnny Mack Cherry, 87 of Chipley, Florida Passes on June 28, 2025 at Doctors Memorial Hospital in Bonifay, Florida

Johnny Mack was born on March 25, 1938 in Blakely Georgia  to Johnny and Ellie Cherry. Johnny Mack was a church member at Shiloh Baptist Church in Chipley. He had a deep love for feeding and watching the birds and squirrels on his front porch and found joy in checking the bee hives in his yard when he could get outside on his scooter.  Known for his physical strength and skills as a carpenter, Johnny Mack was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends whenever they needed him.  Most of all, he loved his wife and family and will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years: Merle Cherry of Chipley, Florida; sons: Tim Cherry (Carrie) of Chipley, Florida, Robyn Cherry (Gerri) of Wichita Falls, Texas; daughter: Sonya Johnston (Barry) of Mesquite, Texas; sisters: Liz, Evelyn, and Gloria of Blakey, Georgia.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 o’clock on Monday, July 14, 2025 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Chipley, Florida with Pastor Tim Brigham officiating. Obert Funeral Home and Whispering Pines Crematory of Chipley, Florida in charge of arrangements.
