A Walton County Sheriff’s Office traffic unit attempted to pull over a dark-colored BMW sedan this morning near Gabbage Street and Central 7th Street.
The passenger of the vehicle ran into a wooded area, and the driver was taken into custody.
Walton and Okaloosa Correctional K-9 Teams were called to the area to assist in searching for the passenger described as a Hispanic male standing 5’4″ tall, weighing approximately 120 lbs, wearing a light blue long-sleeved shirt with “30a” on the back.
At this time, he has not been located.
A shotgun and a white crystal-like substance were found inside the vehicle. The substance is being sent off to be tested.
Jose Ortiz-Leanos, 23, the driver of the vehicle, was charged with driving without a license, and no vehicle registration. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
