Burglary Suspect Arrested Following Multi-County Pursuit

Jackson County, FL – July 28, 2025 – Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported burglary in progress near Bascom, Florida.

Upon arrival, deputies observed a white male suspect fleeing the scene on foot. Verbal commands were issued for the suspect to stop, but he entered a vehicle and fled the area.

A pursuit was initiated, leading deputies across multiple roadways in Jackson County and into Houston County, Alabama. The suspect eventually reentered Jackson County, where deputies were able to use a pursuit intervention technique which ended the pursuit safely at the intersection of Gordon Road and Highway 2.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. The case is still under investigation and multiple charges related to the burglary and the ensuing pursuit are currently pending.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office extends its appreciation to the Sneads Police Department and the Houston County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance and cooperation in bringing this incident to a safe resolution.

Sheriff Edenfield vows, “Anyone who victimizes our citizens will be pursued and brought to justice.”

The suspect, William Clayton Anderson of Malone was arrested on charges of Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, Resisting Arrest without Violence, Driving While License Suspended or Revoked, Tag Attached not Assigned, Grand Theft, Criminal Mischief, and Criminal Trespass. The investigation is ongoing.
