The Bonifay Police Department has identified the driver of the vehicle which fled from the crash scene and transported him to the Holmes County Jail without further incidents.
We would like to thank the Bonifay Fire-Rescue, Holmes County Sheriff’s Office Holmes County EMS for their assistance while the investigation was ongoing. I am very proud of the effort put forth by our BPD officers and the investigation they conducted to bring this case to a close.
Thank you to everyone who rushed to the scene and provided aid to the bicyclist until EMS arrived and those who provided valuable information to assist us in this investigation.
The Bonifay Police Department is currently investigating a vehicle-versus-pedestrian incident near the intersection of Hubbard Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.
Officers and investigators will remain on scene for an extended period. Chief Whitaker is asking the public to avoid the area and use alternate routes at this time. We will provide updates at a later time.
