Last night, on Sunday, August 24, 2025, Liberty Fire District was dispatched along with DeFuniak Springs Fire Department and Walton County Fire Rescue EMS to a reported vehicle fire in the Oakwood Lakes community.
Rescue 7 arrived on scene at Oakwood Lakes Blvd. and W. Picasso Circle to find an SUV fully involved. Crews from Rescue 7, Attack 7, and DFSFD quickly deployed lines and worked together to bring the fire under control. Water was on the fire at 9:57 PM and the incident was declared under control at 10:00 PM.
One female sustained a minor burn injury to her leg prior to our arrival. WCFR evaluated and treated the patient at the scene, and she declined transport to the hospital.
After extinguishment, Liberty crews overhauled the vehicle and assisted the towing company with debris removal to safely reopen the roadway.
