Weather in the Gulf of America Over the Next Couple of Weeks

Posted on August 27, 2025

Late August into early September is usually busy for our area—think Elena (1985), Andrew (1992), Katrina (2005), Gustav (2008), Isaac (2012), and Ida (2021).

The next week or two looks different: a trough over the eastern U.S. and a ridge to the west should steer any Caribbean/Atlantic systems north and then northeast, limiting opportunities for storms to enter the Gulf.

That means no local tropical impacts are expected through the first week of September based on the current pattern.

We’re still in hurricane season—stay prepared and keep checking reliable updates.
