Edwin was born on November 15, 1959, in Kingsville, Texas, to Marcela and Maria Perena. He had a passion for creating Native American crafts and jewelry, and he loved to travel.
An avid saltwater fisherman, Edwin also enjoyed going on cruises and scuba diving adventures. Above all, he cherished his family and never missed a single event involving his grandchildren. He will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years: Sheila Perena of Lynn Haven, FL; sons: Christopher Perena of Germany, James Perena of San Antonio, Texas, Michael Salas of Miami, FL; daughters: Jessica Perena of Germany, Daniele Mikell of Tallahassee, FL, Kristina Hodges Rios of Lynn Haven, FL; brothers: Carlos Pina of Washington State, David Perez of Texas; sisters: Jova Garza of Boyett, TX, Debra Burciaga; grandchildren: Scarlett Hait (AJ), Jeremiah Rios (Brandi), Conner Mikel, Jaran Rios, Scarla Perena; great grandchildren; Eloise Bennet Hait; beloved dogs: Sarge and Sophia.
A private family service with military honors will be held. Obert Funeral Home and Whispering Pines Crematory of Chipley, Florida in charge of arrangements.
