The Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested a teacher today on a charge of lewd and lascivious battery and offences against students by authority figures.
31-year-old George Michael Fisher, a former Vernon Middle School teacher, in Vernon Florida, is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student during August 2019 and June 2020. WCSO Investigators say the victim was 13 years of age when the relationship started.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified on August 27, 2025, of the alleged incident and immediately began investigating the incident.
Investigators say the relationship began with social media texting, which lead to food deliveries and then trips to the suspect’s home. After the first visit to the home, multiple sexual encounters followed.
Fisher’s last day of employment with the Washington County School District, was June 2023.
On August 28, 2025, a warrant was issued for George Michael Fisher.
At this time, Mr. Fisher has been taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail in Chipley, Fl.
