James Henry Gilmore Jr., 78 of Caryville, passed from this life on September 23, 2025 at his home.

James was born July 12, 1947 in Bonifay, Florida to the late James and Sarah (Mason) Gilmore Sr. A lifelong resident of the Florida panhandle, James was a graduate of Vernon High School Class of 1966. Upon graduation he entered into the United States Navy where he served from 1966-1972. After his military service, James returned back to the Panhandle and went to work for Lehigh Furniture in Marianna, where he worked until his retirement in 1998. He loved being outdoors hunting and fishing, and he was also an accomplished Team Roper & Bronc Rider, competing against the likes of Chris LeDoux. James loved his family dearly and will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Gilmore of Caryville, Florida; son: James Tyson Gilmore of Marianna, Florida; siblings: Wesley “W.C”. Gilmore and wife Kathy of Marianna, Florida, Clifton “Clif” Gilmore and wife Sue of Vernon, Florida, Jesse Lee “Jake” Gilmore of Chipley, Florida, Josephine Locke and husband David of Panama City, Florida; step son: Chris Pippin and wife Christy of Chipley, Florida; grandchildren: Sarah Grace Pippin and fiancé Austin Granger of Chipley, Florida, Riley Pippin of Chipley, Florida.

Memorialization will be by cremation. Brown Funeral Home & Blue Lake Crematory of Chipley, FL is in charge of arrangements.
