Walton County, Florida Sheriff’s Office Arrests Captain Sean Benjamin Cushman on Eight Counts of Sexual Battery on Child

A Captain in the Army stationed at Fort Gordon in Georgia is facing more than 40 felony charges out of Walton County including eight counts of sexual battery on a child.

Sean Benjamin Cushman, 30, was arrested July 15th in South Carolina on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor following a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

On August 25th, Walton County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Aiken County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina regarding the case.

The detective who was lead on the search warrant at Cushman’s home in Aiken, located images and videos on Cushman’s phone of child pornography with a victim under 18 that were believed to be recorded in Walton County.

Walton County Sheriff’s Office investigators confirmed that more than 15 videos and photos were recorded and taken of the victim in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.

Cushman currently has active warrants out of Walton County for eight counts of sexual battery on a child 12 years old to 18 years old, 17 counts of possession of child pornography, and 17 counts of manufacturing child pornography.

A spokesperson for the 780th Military Intelligence Brigade confirmed, when Cushman was first arrested on July 15th, he was an active-duty soldier assigned to the 11th Cyber Battalion, U.S. Army Cyber Command.
