On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at approximately 1200am deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Hwy 79 and Moss Hill Road in Vernon. Deputies identified the driver as Kayla Baldwin, 33 of Maryville Tennessee and the passenger as Bruce Baldwin, 34 of Seymour Tennessee.
During the course of the traffic stop, deputies obtained a pouch from the vehicle belonging to the driver, Kayla Baldwin, which contained several hypodermic needles, a spoon, and a light green pill that was identified as Xanax by the driver.
The passenger, Bruce Baldwin, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine contained in a pill bottle and drug paraphernalia consisting of devices used for smoking narcotics, in his pocket. Deputies also located small red strips that the passenger identified as “acid” or LSD.
Both individuals were arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail where they were booked on charges of:
Possession of a controlled substance w/o a prescription
Possession of Drug Equipment
