On October 8, 2025, Holmes County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop on Highway 79. During the stop, deputies identified a passenger, Zola Slater, who was found to have an active warrant for violation of state probation.
A search of Slater’s purse revealed a bag containing methamphetamine. Deputies advised Slater that bringing any concealed items into the jail would result in additional charges for introduction of contraband. Slater stated that she did not have anything hidden on her person.
Upon arrival at the Holmes County Jail, a search was conducted, and deputies located an additional bag of methamphetamine concealed on Slater’s person.
Slater was charged with possession of methamphetamine and introduction of contraband into a correctional facility.
