On October 22, 2025, a Holmes County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to stop a Dodge pickup driven by Robert Conner of Winter Park, Florida, on Highway 79. Conner refused to stop, initiating a pursuit that continued south on Highway 79 into Washington County.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office joined the pursuit as the suspect vehicle turned west onto Creek Road. The chase came to an end when the vehicle’s driveshaft malfunctioned, causing it to slow and come to a stop.
Conner was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail, where he faces charges of fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, and driving on a suspended license.
