No Late Fees. No Disconnects. No Worries During a Shutdown.
If you live in Panama City, Florida and your household is affected by a federal government shutdown lasting more than two weeks, help is now available.
The City Commission voted today to protect utility customers who are struggling during a shutdown. That means if you qualify, your city utility service will NOT be cut off, you will NOT be charged late fees, and your account will NOT be terminated during the shutdown — and for 30 days after federal operations return to normal.
Who qualifies?
• Federal employees impacted by the shutdown
• SNAP Benefit recipients
(Commissioner Janice Lucas made the motion to include SNAP recipients in Commissioner Josh Street’s original proposal. The amended motion passed unanimously.)
What you need to do:
Provide valid documentation to Utility Billing to show that you qualify.
This is about protecting families, workers, and neighbors during tough times — and making sure no one loses essential services through no fault of their own.
