Jackson County, Florida Sheriff’s Office Announces Acquisition of MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle

Posted on October 30, 2025

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the addition of an MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle)—generously donated by the Jupiter Police Department—to our public safety fleet, which is available to assist neighboring agencies during emergencies.

This vehicle isn’t a “new toy.” It’s a lifesaving asset designed to keep both our deputies and the public safe. The MRAP provides unmatched protection, durability, and mobility in the most dangerous and unpredictable situations. Built to withstand extreme conditions, it offers ballistic protection, heavy-duty armor, and off-road capability that allow deputies to safely respond to active shooter situations, school safety emergencies, and armed standoffs—keeping both officers and civilians out of harm’s way.

Beyond tactical responses, the MRAP also serves a vital role in disaster and rescue operations. Its elevated design and powerful engine enable it to traverse flooded roads, debris-covered areas, and rough terrain during hurricanes and severe storms—and even operate safely in snow or other extreme weather conditions. This ensures deputies can reach those in need when conventional vehicles cannot.

This safety vehicle is also available for use across the region, providing mutual aid and support to neighboring agencies when a community is in need.

The addition of this MRAP strengthens our overall preparedness and response capabilities—another step forward in protecting and serving the people of Jackson County and beyond.
