Monday, November 10th: Our well-advertised cold blast has arrived. Hazardous cold, high fire danger, and rough beach and boating conditions are expected. Read below for more details.
Cold Weather: Today will be chilly with highs in the upper 40s to mid 50s, but the wind will make it feel colder all day. A freeze is expected tonight all the way to the coast (except the immediate beachfront). A Freeze Warning is now in effect for tonight. Some parts of southeast Alabama and southwest Georgia could see a hard freeze (affecting pipes).
The wind chills will fall into the upper teens to mid 20s, which will also be hazardous for anyone without access to warmth. A Cold Weather Advisory covers the wind chill hazard for tonight.
Fire Danger: There is a high fire danger today across the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend where a Red Flag Warning is now in effect. Elevated fire danger continues for southeast Alabama and southwest Georgia. The low humidity, gusty winds, and ongoing drought will lead to fires starting and spreading more easily. It’s not a good day to do any outdoor burning!
Beach/Boating Conditions: A Small Craft Advisory continues for all of our waters. Occasional gusts to gale-force are possible over the waters through tonight. This will also kick up the surf along Bay and Gulf County beaches, resulting in dangerous rip currents.
