Born on September 17, 1935, in Coffee County, Alabama, he was the son of the late S.C. Phillips and the late Alma Haney Phillips.
Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine “Kat” Phillips.
He is survived by his three children, Lee Rone (Joe), Johnny Phillips (Tammy), and Lyn Brown (Dewayne); two special sons, Steve Kelly (Wynell) and Marc Kelly (Kat); seven grandchildren, Michael Farmer, Christy Rone, Derrick Phillips, Emily McCann (Leo), Zachery Brown, Bobby Kelly, and Marcus Kelly; and several great-grandchildren.
Billy was known for his quick wit, his fishing prowess, and his unwavering devotion to Auburn sports. He especially loved showing off and racing around the halls of Grandview with his great-granddaughters, Penelope and Harper. Family and friends will remember him as someone who could always share a good story and bring a smile to those around him. His legacy lives on in the love of his family and the many memories they will forever hold close.
Memorialization will be by cremation, with Sims Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
