The Lord, our kind and merciful God, very gently took Bonita Rose (Bell) Stanaland, of Bonifay, Florida to her heavenly home on December 20, 2025. She was ninety-four years old, born May 8, 1931, in Day Town, Florida to Judge and Rosa Bell. She is lovingly known by her family and friends as Bonnie.
She is preceded in death by her parents Judge and Rosa Bell, husband Wesley Stanaland, daughter Judy Stanaland, sons Jesse Stanaland and Dawson Stanaland; Granddaughters Angela Dixon, Brittany Stanaland, and Holley Stanaland.
Bonnie is survived by two sons, J.C. Stanaland and David Stanaland; daughter, Teresa Godwin (Charles); daughters-in-law, Bernadine Stanaland Sanders (Martin) (Dawson’s wife before his decease), Jerry Stanaland; fourteen grandchildren, (grandson-in-law) Brian Dixon; Andrea Colvin, Jason Stanaland (Sarah), Katrina Salva (Kevin), Jessica Glass (Tom), Christina Stanaland Tereszkiewicz (Josh), Liza Stanaland Sanchez (Bobby), Caitlyn Sanders, Taylor Sanders, Jennifer Stone (Dave), Daniel Godwin (Starla), Meleesa Corley (Tom), Michael Reid Stanaland, Catherine Teresa Stanaland; forty-one great-grandchildren, Keirsten Dixon, Amberly Dixon, Christopher Dixon, Chase Sapp (Lily), Calan Sapp (Joycelyn), Chandler Colvin (Mckenna), Cameron Colvin, Gabrielle Stanaland, Aidyn Smith, Chyenne Stanaland, Dylan Stanaland, Zach Salva, Leah Salva, Cooper Bodie, Meeya Gonzalez Morrow (Alec), Dominic Gonzalez, Lucas Gonzalez, Justen Sanchez, Jeremy Sanchez, Robert Sanchez, Savannah Sanchez Owens (Casey), Will Stone, Wisteria Stone, Lois Stone, Juniper Stone, Joseph Stone, Jonah Stone, Josiah Godwin, Grace Godwin, Elijah Godwin, Micaiah Godwin, Harmony Godwin, Hanna Godwin, Isaiah Godwin, Marian Rose Corley, Rebekah Corley, David Corley, Benjamin Stanaland, Jedidiah Stanaland, Olivia Stanaland, Nathanial Stanaland, Destyne Michell Fryoux, Eleana Stanaland; eight great-great-grandchildren, Caden Sapp, Allie Jane Colvin, Charlie May Colvin, Philip John Colvin, Alana Morrow, Destiney Frioux, Nova Jade Fryoux, Gene Isadore Fryoux IV; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Bonnie was a multitalented lady; she was a nurses aid, worked in clothing sales, was a high school lunchroom supervisor, faithful Wife, caring mother, and a good friend to all she met. She gardened, canned garden vegetables, hand-milked cows, butchered chickens, made clothes, was a prosperous Bee Keeper, washed cloths on an outside ringer washing machine (before there were throw away diapers), wrote books, wrote poems, she was a devoted bible student, and she was a faithful member of the Primitive Baptist Church all her life (Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church, Graceville, FL).
Funeral Services for Sister Bonnie Stanaland is Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Sims Funeral Home 201 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Bonifay, Florida 32425. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The service will begin at 11:00 AM. The interment will be at 3:00 PM at the Bagdad Cemetery, 6800 Pooley Street, Bagdad, Fl. Presiding ministers are Elder Tom Corley, Elder Clayton Nowell, Elder Charles Godwin with Sims Funeral Home directing.
