On August 7, 2025, a Chipley, Florida Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop of a black Mustang on Highway 90. The driver, identified as David Harper, was known to have an active warrant out of DeFuniak Springs for larceny and battery.
The officer detained Harper pending confirmation of the warrant. Officers recovered a Ruger LCP .380 handgun, from harper’s pocket. A subsequent check revealed the firearm was reported stolen out of DeFuniak Springs.
Harper was placed under arrest and transported to the Washington County Jail.
