Doris A. Bray, 93 of Chipley, Florida Passes

Posted on May 2, 2026

Doris A. Bray was born in Dover, New Jersey on March 9, 1933, the daughter of the late William and Hilda (Radmore) Zalasky. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Douglas Bray, and sons Douglas Apgar, David Bray and daughter Dawn Bray. She leaves behind sons Daniel Apgar and Darryl Bray; daughters Debra Farley, Donna Hightower, and Darla Iuliucci; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Over her beautiful life, she turned a passion for feeding people into something truly special. She owned and operated several restaurants spanning from New Jersey to Florida. Her most beloved was Granny’s Country Kitchen in Chipley, Florida, where she poured her heart into every plate and her smile into every customer who walked through the door. She didn’t just feed your stomach — she fed your soul.

We are certain heaven just got a whole lot more delicious — she’s already got a pot on the stove and a table set for everyone she’s been missing.

When she wasn’t in the kitchen, she was in the garden. Doris had a green thumb that had no equal. She never met a plant she couldn’t coax into blooming.

Her love was never quiet — it showed up in Sunday dinners, in freshly picked flowers, in a hug that lasted exactly as long as you needed it to. That love doesn’t leave. It lives in every meal made with care, every garden tended with patience, every child and grandchild who learned from her what it means to truly show up for people.

The best way to honor her is simply to remember her: the meals made with love, the garden tended with joy, and the way she made everyone around her feel like family.

Memorialization will be by cremation with Brown Funeral Home & Blue Lake Crematory of Chipley, FL in charge of arrangements.
