Dothan, Alabama Enacts Stage II Water Restrictions Starting April 1 Due to Water Shortage

Posted on March 31, 2026

The City of Dothan Government announced that Stage II of its Water Conservation Plan will go into effect April 1, placing mandatory watering restrictions on residents through Oct. 1.

According to city officials, the plan limits when residents can water based on their address number. Those with even-numbered addresses can water on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Odd-numbered addresses are allowed to water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. No watering is allowed on Mondays.

The restrictions are part of a seasonal conservation effort aimed at managing water usage during warmer months when demand typically increases.

City leaders say residents are expected to follow the schedule to help preserve water resources and maintain system stability throughout the spring and summer.

The plan applies to all Dothan Utilities customers and remains in place annually during the specified timeframe unless further restrictions are issued.
