Drivers Will Encounter Traffic Disruptions on State Roads in Washington and Holmes County, Florida Over Weekend

Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in the Central Panhandle area as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.

Bay County:

  • State Road (S.R.) 390 Widening from 23rd Street to Baldwin Road – S.R. 390 drivers may encounter alternating lane closures, between Jackson Way and Frankford Avenue, Monday, March 31 through Friday, April 4 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews will be applying final pavement striping.
  • U.S. 231 Resurfacing from County Road 2301 to North Campflowers Road – Drivers will encounter intermittent nighttime north and southbound lane closures Sunday, March 30 through Thursday, April 3 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving operations.
  • Gulf Coast Parkway Construction from U.S. 98 (Tyndall Parkway) to Star Avenue – Drivers may encounter intermittent daytime and nighttime lane closures on U.S. 98 (Tyndall Parkway) from 11th Street to Tram Road, and on Star Avenue from north of S.R. 22 to Tram Road, beginning Sunday, March 30 through Sunday, April 6. The lane closure is necessary for crews to perform drainage, sidewalk, and curb and gutter installation and to allow oversized equipment to access the S.R. 370 (Gulf Coast Parkway) construction site. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
  • Hutchison Boulevard Resurfacing from U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) to U.S. 98A (Front Beach Road) – Drivers will encounter intermittent daytime lane closures Monday, March 31 through Friday, April 4 as crews perform sidewalk, drainage, and resurfacing activities throughout the project area. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
  • U.S. 98 Construction from west of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to east of Louisiana Avenue – Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures between Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue and Louisiana Avenue through May.
  • U.S. 98 (15th Street) Resurfacing from east of the 23rd Street Flyover to Jenks Avenue – Motorists will encounter the following traffic impacts:

o   The U.S. 98 (15th Street) right turn lane onto the Beck Avenue outside merge lane will be closed Monday, March 31 through Sunday, April 6. The lane closure is necessary to reconstruct the 15th street right turn lane and the outside merge lane onto Beck Avenue. Drivers will still be able to access Beck Avenue at the signalized intersection.

o   Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, March 31 through Sunday, April 6 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for sidewalk and signalization activities.

  • U.S. 98 Routine Bridge Maintenance over St. Andrew Bay – Motorists may encounter intermittent westbound lane closures just west of the Panama City limits Sunday, March 30 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for routine bridge maintenance.
  • S.R. 79 Routine Bridge Maintenance over West Bay – Motorists may encounter intermittent northbound lane closures just north of U.S. 98 Wednesday, April 2 and Thursday, April 3 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for routine bridge maintenance.

Holmes County:

  • Interstate 10 (I-10) Routine Bridge Maintenance over Sandy Creek – Motorists may encounter intermittent eastbound lane closures east of S.R. 81 Monday, March 31 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for routine bridge maintenance.

Jackson County:

  • S.R. 71 Resurfacing from U.S. 90 to North of Basswood Road – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, March 31 through Friday, April 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for paving operations.

Washington County:

  • I-10 Bridge Rehabilitation over Choctawhatchee River – Motorists may encounter intermittent daytime lane closures Monday, March 31 through Friday, April 4 for construction operations.
  • S.R. 77 from Bay County Line to north of Moss Hill Road – S.R. 77 northbound drivers will encounter a lane closure Monday, March 31 through Monday, April 7 from just south of the Bay County line to Blocker Church Road. This lane closure is necessary for crews to complete construction activities in preparation for the final traffic configuration. Advanced warning signs, traffic control devices, and traffic flagmen will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
  • I-10 Routine Bridge Maintenance over Pate Pond Road – Motorists may encounter intermittent westbound lane closures east of the Choctawhatchee River Tuesday, April 1 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for routine bridge maintenance.

All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
