Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in the Central Panhandle area as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.
Bay County:
1. U.S. 98 Construction from west of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to east of Louisiana Avenue – Drivers may encounter intermittent and alternating lane closures Sunday, Aug. 10 through Saturday, Aug. 16.
2. U.S. 98 Widening from Mandy Lane to east of Nautilus Street – Westbound U.S. 98 drivers will encounter alternating lane closures, between Pier Park Drive and Powell Adams Road, Wednesday, Aug. 13 and Thursday, Aug. 14 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews will be removing barrier wall.
3. U.S. 98 Widening from east of Nautilus Street to east of Richard Jackson Boulevard – U.S. 98 drivers will encounter inside (left) lane closures, between Nautilus Street and Alf Coleman Road, Sunday, Aug. 10 through Friday, Aug. 15 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews will be paving the roadway in advance of an upcoming traffic shift. In addition, the south side of Lyndell Lane at the U.S. 98 intersection will be closed Monday, Aug. 11 through Monday, Aug. 25. Crews will be installing a pipe beneath Lyndell Lane. The closure will not impact the U.S. 98 travel lanes. Drivers requiring access to Lyndell Lane should detour using Alf Coleman Road and Middle Beach Road.
4. State Road (S.R.) 390 Bridge Rehabilitation over Mill Bayou – S.R. 390 drivers may experience brief travel delays near the Mill Bayou Bridge Sunday, Aug. 10 through Saturday, Aug. 16. Crews will be delivering materials needed for the project.
5. U.S. 98 (15th Street) Resurfacing from east of the 23rd Street Flyover to Jenks Avenue – Motorists may encounter intermittent nighttime lane closures Monday, Aug. 11 through Sunday, Aug. 17 for sidewalk and signalization activities. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
6. U.S. 231 at Pipeline Road Improvement Project – The U.S. 231 median at Pipeline Road is closed. Drivers needing to cross U.S. 231 should proceed past the closed median and use established crossovers to turn around at either Cato Road or Lindsey Crossing.
7. S.R. 392A (Hutchison Boulevard) Resurfacing from U.S. 98A to U.S. 98A – Motorists may encounter intermittent nighttime lane closures Sunday, Aug. 10 through Thursday, Aug. 14 for concrete operations.
Jackson County:
1. S.R. 71 Resurfacing from U.S. 90 to North of Basswood Road – Motorists may encounter intermittent nighttime lane closures Sunday, Aug. 10 through Thursday, Aug. 14 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving operations.
2. U.S. 90 Resurfacing from S.R. 71 to the four-lane west of Grand Ridge – Motorists may encounter intermittent nighttime lane closures Sunday, Aug. 10 through Thursday, Aug. 14 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving operations.
3. U.S. 90 from west of U.S. 231 to west of CSX Overpass – Motorists may encounter intermittent nighttime lane closures Monday, Aug. 11 through Friday, Aug. 15 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for construction activities.
Holmes County:
1. Howell Williams Road Bridge Replacement over Tenmile Creek – Motorists may encounter intermittent daytime lane closures Sunday, Aug. 10 through Thursday, Aug. 14 for construction activities.
Washington County:
1. S.R. 77 Widening north of Rogers Road to south of Cane Mill Road – S.R. 77 drivers will encounter lane closures, between Mud Hill Road and Buster Roger’s Road, Monday, Aug. 11 through Friday, Aug. 15 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Crews will be placing temporary asphalt. Traffic flaggers will be positioned to safely direct drivers through the work zone.
2. S.R. 77 Widening from Bay County Line to north of Moss Hill Road – S.R. 77 northbound and southbound drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures beginning Monday, Aug. 11 through Monday, Aug. 18 at the intersection of Spring Pond Road and County Road 279 (Moss Hill Road). The lane closures are necessary for crews to complete construction activities within the area. Advanced warning signs, traffic control devices, and traffic flagmen will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
3. S.R. 277 Bridge Rehabilitation over Hard Labor Creek – Motorists will encounter intermittent daytime lane closures Monday, Aug. 11 through Friday, Aug.15 for constriction activities.
All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
