Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in the Central Panhandle area as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.
Bay County:
- U.S. 231 Resurfacing from County Road 2301 to North Campflowers Road – Drivers will encounter intermittent nighttime north and southbound lane closures Sunday, June 1 through Friday, June 6 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving operations.
- Gulf Coast Parkway Construction from U.S. 98 (Tyndall Parkway) to Star Avenue – U.S. 98 (Tyndall Parkway) drivers may encounter intermittent daytime and nighttime lane closures on U.S. 98 (Tyndall Parkway) from 11th Street to Tram Road, and on Star Avenue from north of State Road (S.R.) 22 to Tram Road, beginning Sunday, June 1 through Sunday, June 8. The lane closure is necessary for crews to perform drainage structure, sidewalk, and curb and gutter installation and to allow oversized equipment to access the S.R. 370 (Gulf Coast Parkway) construction site. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
- U.S. 98 Construction from west of Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue to east of Louisiana Avenue – Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures near the Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue (main) gate at Tyndall AFB through July.
- U.S. 98 Widening from Mandy Lane to east of Nautilus Street – Hills Road will be closed south of the U.S. 98 (Panama City Beach Parkway) intersection Monday, June 2 through Monday, June 9. Construction crews will be installing drainage beneath the roadway. U.S. 98 drivers requiring access to properties on Hills Road may detour by turning south on Powell Adams Road, then east on Front Beach Road, and north at the Hills Road intersection. This closure will not impact the U.S. 98 travel lanes.
- U.S. 98 (15th Street) Resurfacing from east of the 23rd Street Flyover to Jenks Avenue – Motorists may encounter intermittent nighttime lane closures Monday, June 2 through Sunday, June 8 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for sidewalk and signalization activities. Advanced warning signs and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
- S.R. 390 Bridge over Mill Bayou – S.R. 390 drivers may experience brief travel delays near the Mill Bayou Bridge Sunday, June 1 through Saturday, June 7. Crews will be delivering materials needed for the reconstruction of the bridge.
Holmes County:
- S.R. 79 Routine Utility Maintenance from East Nebraska Avenue to East North Avenue in Bonifay – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, June 2 through Thursday, June 26 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for routine utility maintenance.
Jackson County:
- U.S. 90 from west of U.S. 231 to west of CSX Overpass – Motorists may encounter intermittent nighttime lane closures Monday, June 2 through Friday, June 6 for construction activities.
Washington County:
- S.R. 77 Widening from Bay County Line to north of Moss Hill Road – S.R. 77 northbound and southbound drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures beginning Monday, June 2 through Monday, June 9 from just north of the Bay County line to Moss Hill Road. The lane closures are necessary for crews to complete the final dressing and grassing along the project limits. Advanced warning signs, traffic control devices, and traffic flagmen will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
- U.S. 90 Bridge Replacement over Holmes Creek – Motorists may encounter intermittent daytime lane closures Monday, June 2 through Friday, June 6 for construction activities
All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
