Florida is designating the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as foreign terrorist organizations. Florida agencies are hereby directed to undertake all lawful measures to prevent unlawful activities by these groups.
CAIR-Florida is holding its annual Muslim Day at the State Capitol a month after Governor DeSantis designates the nation’s largest Muslim advocacy group as a “foreign terrorist organization.” Shehryar Wahid with the Islamic Foundation of South Florida says the anti-Muslim sentiment is a direct assault on their civil rights.
CAIR is filing a lawsuit against DeSantis’ executive order calling it unconstitutional and defamatory. The order directs state agencies to prevent unlawful activities and deny resources to those supporting the group.
