The Holmes County Board of County Commissioners has a “Data Center Discussion” on the agenda for Tuesday, June 2, at 6:00 PM at 107 East Virginia Avenue in Bonifay, Florida5.
Rural communities across the country are increasingly being targeted for large-scale data center projects because of our available land, lower costs, and fewer residents. While these developments are often marketed as economic opportunities, they can also bring significant impacts:
• Massive water consumption
• Increased energy demand on local infrastructure
• Industrial noise from cooling systems and backup generators
• Loss of rural character and open space
• Light pollution
• Environmental concerns with future expansion
Whether you support or oppose data centers, now is the time to learn what is being discussed and ask questions before decisions are made.
Please attend the meeting. A comment on Facebook is not enough. Our elected officials need to see that residents are paying attention and care about the future of Holmes County.
If you value our farms, forests, wildlife, quiet nights, and rural way of life, please take the time to show up.
