On June 23, 2026, deputies with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office observed a vehicle occupied by a white male and white female pull into the Pilot Travel Center and park at the gas pumps. Deputies noted that neither occupant exited the vehicle to purchase fuel. After a short time, the vehicle left the parking lot, and deputies observed the female switch to the driver’s seat.
A deputy later conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for a traffic violation. The male passenger was identified as Craig Brooks, and the female driver was identified as Hannah Chandler.
During the traffic stop, deputies developed probable cause to search the vehicle. During the search, deputies located methamphetamine and a firearm concealed beneath the passenger-side floor mat. Brooks admitted ownership of the methamphetamine.
A records check revealed that Brooks was a convicted felon, was currently on parole, and had a suspended driver’s license. Chandler advised deputies that she knew Brooks did not possess a valid driver’s license.
As a result of the investigation, both Brooks and Chandler were arrested and transported to the Holmes County Jail.
