On September 1, 2025, Holmes County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Vortex Spring to speak with Mr. Dockery regarding a burglary and theft at the Copper Lodge. Mr. Dockery reported that two flat-screen televisions had been stolen from the lodge.
After reviewing surveillance footage, deputies identified employee Jeffery Thames as a suspect. While deputies were still on scene, Thames arrived, saw law enforcement present, and attempted to flee in a vehicle.
A deputy was able to conduct a traffic stop and question Thames, during which he admitted to taking the televisions.
Thames was arrested and charged with Burglary, Theft, and Criminal Mischief. Deputies then responded to his residence on Johnson Lakes Road, where the stolen televisions were recovered and returned to the owner.
