A routine traffic stop conducted by a Holmes County Sheriff’s Office deputy on February 27, 2025, resulted in the arrest of a woman for drug possession.
The deputy observed Rachael Austin driving and had prior knowledge that her driver’s license was not valid. A traffic stop was conducted in Ponce de Leon, where Austin’s license was confirmed to be suspended.
During the stop, Austin admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted, leading to the discovery of a small amount of marijuana inside the car. A subsequent search of Austin’s person revealed a plastic baggie containing methamphetamine.
Austin was placed under arrest and charged with possession of methamphetamine
