On May 26, 2025, while conducting patrol at Lake Cassidy, a Holmes County Sheriff’s deputy observed a white male, later identified as 18-year-old Thomas Cleland of DeFuniak Springs, passed out in a vehicle with his legs hanging out of the window.
As the deputy approached to check on Cleland’s welfare, he observed a marijuana bong and a quantity of marijuana in plain view. After waking Cleland, the deputy discovered a package of marijuana wax in his possession. Cleland admitted to consuming alcohol and claimed ownership of the drugs.
Cleland was placed under arrest and charged with the following offenses:
Possession of a Controlled Substance
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Possession of Marijuana
Possession of Alcohol by a Person Under 21
