On September 8, 2025, the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office responded to Ponce de Leon Springs regarding a possible missing person.
Family members reported that Zachary Wilson’s vehicle had been at the springs since Sunday, and inside it they found his wallet, keys, and cell phone. They advised deputies that Wilson suffers from bipolar disorder and may experience altered mental status if not on his prescribed medication.
Search efforts included K-9 units checking the surrounding wooded areas and dive teams from Walton and Jackson County Sheriff’s Offices searching portions of the underwater cave system. Florida State University also deployed an underwater camera to areas divers could not access. Despite these efforts, Wilson has not been located.
HCSO investigators are continuing to search the area and follow leads, including reviewing phone, financial, and social media records for any information that may assist in locating him.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Zachary Wilson is asked to contact Lt. Helmes at 850-547-4421.
The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from FWC and partnering agencies, will continue the search and investigation.
