Holmes County Sheriff’s Office Respond to Theft at The Tavern Bar on January 24, 2025

Posted on January 28, 2025

On January 24, 2025, the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office responded to a theft report at The Tavern Bar, located at 3964 Highway 2. Upon arrival, the responding deputy made contact with the business owner, Lillian Plante. Ms. Plante reported the theft of her roadside business sign, valued at approximately $1,500.

The missing sign, measuring approximately 5 feet by 6 feet and equipped with lighting, was last seen by Ms. Plante’s husband on January 23, 2025, around 1:00 PM.

A neighbor in the area noted unusual activity, with dogs barking extensively at approximately 10:00 PM on January 23 and again at 3:00 AM on January 24. The sign is believed to have been stolen sometime between 1:00 PM on January 23 and 4:00 PM on January 24.

Due to its size, it is presumed that the suspect(s) used a truck or trailer to transport the sign.

The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying the person(s) responsible. Anyone with information regarding this theft or who may have seen suspicious activity in the area is urged to contact the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office at Capt. Bill Pate at (850) 547-4421.
