Hulan Carter, 86 of Chipley, Florida Passes on May 28, 2026

Hulan Carter, 86, of Chipley, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2926 surrounded by his loving and devoted wife, Patricia. A devoted family patriarch, Hulan was always a stout protector and a man of remarkable strength who lived a life defined by hard work, quiet integrity, and deep love for his family and the land.

Born and raised with a steadfast work ethic, Hulan proudly served his country as a veteran before building a successful career as a contractor for our local community. Among his many careers and passions, he also dedicated himself to serving his community through his work as a commissioner and as a member of the hospital board. He was known for his reliability, skill, and tireless dedication on every job site. A lifelong cattle farmer also, he maintained his deep passion for the land and livestock throughout his entire life, finding purpose and peace in tending to his cattle and farming operations alongside his other work.

Above all, Hulan cherished his role as the heart of his family. He was a loving husband to his wife of 63 years, Patricia Carter, and a guiding force for his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Carter, his daughter, Patti Carter (Randy Leech) and his grandchildren, Dustin Garner (Danielle), Kelly Carter (John) and Kelsey Phillips (Zak), his 7 great-grandchildren Landon, Jacee, Vada, Lincoln, Judd, Shelby, Vada Kate and sister Glenda Hooper (Don).

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Ola; father, Claude; brother Phillip and cherished son, Stephen, with whom he is now reunited.

Hulan’s legacy lives on through the values he instilled in all of us, strength, loyalty, and a deep commitment to family and hard work. He will be remembered as a steadfast protector of his family and friends, a man who always stood tall for those he loved. His strength, integrity, and kindness left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at Brown Funeral Home in Chipley, Florida on June 1, 2026, visitation at 10:00am and service starting at 11:00am.

The Carter family takes comfort knowing their beloved patriarch is now at rest with his son Stephen, watching over them with the same strong, protective love he showed throughout his life.
