Hurricane Erin is Powerful Cat 4 Storm with 140mph Winds

Posted on August 18, 2025

Hurricane Erin is a powerful cat 4 storm w/winds of 140 mph.

It is moving NW and is forecast to shoot the gap between NC and Bermuda.

Coastal flooding and rip currents will be the primary U.S. threats.

The strongest winds will remain well offshore.

Meanwhile the disturbance behind it is worth watching, but there is a ton of uncertainty regarding it as it is 10 days away.

The Euro is weaker and more east recurving before it gets to the U.S. while the GFS is stronger and has bounced around from the Gulf to the SE U.S. Coast line in recent runs.

It is worth noting that the ensembles for the GFS and Euro show a wide spread.
