On Thursday, March 27, 2025, around 8:45 p.m. the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to shots being fired from a vehicle in the area of Mckeown Mill Road. When deputies arrived on scene, the victim stated that he was in his home and heard gunshots close by. When he went outside to check on the situation, the suspect fired several more shots in his direction.
Deputies immediately began BOLO’ing the area and saw a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle’s description. Deputies then conducted a felony stop on the vehicle. Deputies gave the driver verbal commands to exit the vehicle, but he refused for over ten minutes. The suspect, Eric Charles Booth, eventually exited the vehicle and was detained.
Deputies saw several spent shell casings in plain view in the vehicle, as well as a loaded handgun, open containers of alcoholic beverages, and an empty prescription bottle.
Booth was arrested and is being charged with Aggravated Assault, Discharging a Firearm in Public or on Residential Property, and Resisting an Officer Without Violence.
