On Wednesday, January 29, around 11:15 a.m., deputies were patrolling the area of Highway 90 and Old U.S. Road when they saw a vehicle conduct an improper turn.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the driver and the accompanying occupants, Joseph Cogburn and Kristen Paul.
K9 Rocky was deployed and alerted to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, a syringe was found in the backseat where Paul was sitting. The syringe tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine. A cup was also located in the back seat containing a plastic baggie containing methamphetamine. Paul claimed the cup to be hers and was arrested.
Cogburn was also arrested for active warrants out of Franklin County for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Paul was arrested and is being charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
