On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint regarding a vehicle driving north in the southbound lane of traffic on Highway 71. The vehicle caused several other vehicles to exit the roadway to avoid a collision.
When deputies arrived in the area, they located a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle’s description parked on the side of the road, and made contact with the driver, Kerry Stanley Boykin, Jr. Deputies asked Boykin to perform field sobriety exercises, and he consented, but was unable to successfully complete them.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies located an alcoholic beverage in the cupholder. Boykin was transported to the Marianna Police Department to provide a breath sample, and his Breath Alcohol Content was found to be 0.224 on the first sample, and 0.209 on the second sample.
Boykin was arrested and is being charged with Driving Under the Influence.
