On Friday, June 20, 2025, a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputy was patrolling the area of Highway 231 north of Campbellton when he conducted a traffic stop on a suspected impaired driver. The driver was later identified as Norris Wynn of Cottondale.
During the stop, the deputy saw a firearm on the floor between the driver’s feet. When he asked Wynn about the firearm, he fled the scene, prompting a short pursuit. Wynn eventually turned onto Dionne Road and attempted to flee on foot but was ultimately captured by the deputy.
After Wynn was arrested, he was found to be in possession of 20 grams of cocaine, 2 ounces of marijuana, and 57 grams of methamphetamine. However, the firearm seen at the initial stop was not located.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commissioners (FWC) K9 handlers responded to the scene to assist the JCSO in locating the firearm. The firearm was eventually located along Highway 231 near the initial traffic stop scene.
Wynn was arrested and is being charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana, Resisting an Officer Without Violence, Fleeing and Eluding Law Enforcement, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
