Near Hwy 71 and Willis Road, deputies attempted to stop a vehicle that was driving dangerously, crossing into oncoming traffic and reaching speeds of more than 90 mph. The driver refused to pull over, leading deputies to initiate a pursuit.
During the pursuit, speeds climbed above 100 mph, putting everyone on the roadway at risk. The chase ended near Hwy 2 and Concord Road when the vehicle suffered a tire malfunction. Deputies were then able to safely take the driver into custody without further incident.
The driver, Rickey McKay, is being charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding law enforcement.
The incident remains under investigation.
