The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred last night at Browntown Park during a preplanned party attended by roughly 100 or more people. Deputies responded after reports of gunfire were received from the area.
Preliminary findings reveal that nearly 50 shots were fired, and two victims were struck by gunfire. Deputies have further confirmed that three weapons were involved. Both victims are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is working to identify everyone involved and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“Behavior like this will not be tolerated in Jackson County,” said Sheriff Edenfield. “Firing guns into a crowd is reckless, dangerous, and completely unacceptable. If you have any information about who was involved in this shooting, please come forward. We will identify every suspect responsible for endangering the lives of others at this event.”
