James Bradley Kirkland, 67 of Bonifay, Florida Passes on April 24, 2026

James Bradley Kirkland (Brad) died peacefully at home in Dothan, AL on Friday evening, April 24th 2026. Brad was born in Marianna, FL on August 22, 1959 to the late Patricia Ann Kirkland and Rex Rollan Kirkland.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sheila Laney Kirkland; His eldest son, Justin Bradley Kirkland; His youngest son, Jared Laney Kirkland and wife Rechelle; Three precious granddaughters – Kellyn Elizabeth Corbitt, Ava Kathryn Kirkland, and Emily Charlotte Kirkland; His sister, Tammy Braxton and husband Mike; His nephew, Patrick Braxton and wife Tabbatha; His niece, Keila Mathis and husband William; His brother-in-law Roger Laney and wife Margie; His niece, Chelsea Pettis and husband Dallas; and His nephew, Chase Laney.

Brad dedicated much of his life to serving others. He worked for 19 years as a rural mail carrier with the United States Postal Service, faithfully serving his community. He also spent 20 years as a barber at Kirkland’s Barber Shop in Bonifay, where he built lasting friendships with those he served.

The family would like to thank the staff of Flowers Hospital, the staff & therapists at Encompass Health, as well as Adoration Home Health and Southern Care Hospice for the wonderful care and support provided to Brad and his loved ones.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, April 30th at 2:00 PM at Grace Assembly in Chipley, FL with Rev. Dallas Pettis officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of their choice.

Memorialization will be by cremation with Brown Funeral Home & Blue Lake Crematory of Chipley, FL in charge of the arrangements.
