James D. Harris Jr., 79 passed from this life on January 27, 2025, at Bay Medical Hospital.
He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on March 10, 1945, and grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
James graduated from Stranahan High School, Newberry College, and Florida Atlantic University. He was a middle school math teacher during his teaching career and retired from teaching math at Coral Springs Middle School in 2004 and moved to Chipley, Florida.
He was a member for many years of the Country Oaks Volunteer Fire Dept.
Throughout his life he enjoyed trips to Disney World, Everglades National Park, vacationing in the Smoky Mountains, and visiting family and friends in South Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Betty Harris.
He is survived by his wife Christina Harris; brother: Nat and sister-in-law Terry of Coral Springs, Florida; nephew: Michael Harris; niece: Christina Steinke, and cousins Franklin Harris and Jeff Foster
Memorialization will be by cremation. Burial will take place at a later date at Anticoch Cemetery in Gainesville, Florida. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida in charge of arrangements.
