John Michael Braxton, 69, of Cottondale, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on June 2, 2026, at Southeast Hospital in Dothan, Alabama, surrounded by his loving family.
Mike was born on December 15, 1956, in Milton, Florida, to Harvey Braxton and Willie King. A lifelong resident of Jackson County, he proudly served in the United States Marines. He found great joy in fellowship with family, friends, and anyone else who crossed his path. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he cherished dearly. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Harvey Braxton and Willie King; brothers: Dwight Braxton, Byron Braxton, J.L. Braxton, Joe Braxton; sisters: Dorothy Raines, Teresa Braxton.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Tammy Braxton of Cottondale, FL; son: Patrick Braxton (Tabbatha) of Compass Lake, FL; daughter: Keila Braxton Mathis (William) of Cottondale, Florida; brothers: William Braxton of Milton, FL, Neal Braxton (Barbara Jean) of Pace, Florida; sisters: Ann Knowlton (Jon) of Cuero, Tx, Nancy Webb (Johnny) of Gulf Port, MS; nine grandchildren; two great-grandhchildren.
Services will be held at 6 PM Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Obert Funeral Home Chapel in Chipley, Florida (731 Kirkland Road) with Bro. Brian Braxton officiating. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Obert Funeral Home Chapel.
