National Automotive Service Professional Week is celebrated annually during the second week of June and this year, it takes place from June 9 to 15. Car troubles can be most frustrating — a flat tire when we have a long day ahead, a breakdown when we are running late, or being stranded in the middle of nowhere. It’s not just the trouble, but the timing of it, and when it feels like nothing more can go wrong, it usually does. So, today is the day to thank the superhumans who keep our rides up and running and save us from troublesome days.
The world of cars was introduced by Ford Motors. Since then, the journey has been onwards and upwards. Car choices are vast, with styles for every taste. They’re also designed for safety and comfort, with price ranges tailored to different budgets, and loan options that make it easier to commit to a purchase.
This week celebrates the service professionals who not only fix the beast in our garage but the ones that help build the roads on which they ride. Automotive vehicles by definition include passenger vehicles, S.U.Vs, vans, trucks, buses, or any automobile that travels by road with the help of an engine.
National Automotive Service Professional Week (N.A.S.P.) was introduced by the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (A.S.E.) in 2005. It came after the stellar success of N.A.S.P. Day which was first inaugurated in 2001.
A.S.E., established in 1972, seeks to recognize the dexterous service providers who help maintain complex vehicles used for transportation. Tim Zilke, the president and C.E.O. of A.S.E., said that this week is aimed at recognizing the significant contribution of part specialists, mechanics, support professionals, and collision technicians who help keep the wheels on the motor industry running and allow the public to get on with their day-to-day commute.
