Katherine D. Sloan, 58 of Cottondale, went home to be with the Lord on February 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Katherine was born to Collis and Melba Kent on July 26, 1966, in Selma, Alabama. A lifelong resident of the Florida Panhandle, she worked as a Rural Carrier for the United States Postal Service and was a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Kynesville. Her love for children was evident in her daily life, whether it be through teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School or helping students make Gingerbread Houses at local elementary schools. She enjoyed working in her garden, sewing, quilting, reading, baking, and thrifting. More recently, she enjoyed crocheting with her grandchildren. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, taking every opportunity to travel and make memories together. She will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters: Jessica Riley (Steven) of Navarre, Florida; Kimberly Draayom (Phillip) of Cottondale, Florida; Melanie van Coller (Conrad) of Wilmington, Massachusetts; parents: Collis and Melba Kent of Alford, Florida; brother: Al Kent (Teresa) of Smyrna, Georgia; grandchildren: Porter Riley, Emmalyn Riley, Jeremy Draayom, Karoline Draayom, Owen Draayom, Naomi van Coller, Annie van Coller.
Funeral service will be held 11AM Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Kynesville, Florida with Bro. James Gray Braxton and Bro. Brandon Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 10 AM until the time of service at the church.
