On April 30, 2026, at approximately 4:14 p.m., officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to the area of Old Cottondale Road east of Cottondale Village Apartments in reference to a reported shooting.
When officers arrived, they made contact with the victim and a witness who initially reported the incident occurred near Old Cottondale Road. During the course of the investigation, both individuals later advised officers the shooting had actually occurred at a residence located on Sunset Drive in Marianna.
Through sworn statements and evidence collected on scene, officers determined the victim and witness had arrived at the residence to visit friends when an altercation occurred involving 17-year-old Ja’Xzavier Tykevon Livingston of Marianna. During the incident, Livingston allegedly produced a handgun and fired one round in the direction of the victim following a verbal dispute.
As the investigation continued, officers responded to the residence on Sunset Drive where Livingston was located and detained without incident.
During a consensual search of the residence, officers recovered two firearms believed to be connected to the incident. Both firearms matched descriptions provided by witnesses.
Following his arrest, Livingston was transported to the Marianna Police Department for questioning. During an interview, Livingston admitted to firing the handgun in the direction of the victim during the altercation.
Based on witness statements, physical evidence, and Livingston’s admission, probable cause was established to charge Ja’Xzavier Tykevon Livingston with Attempted Felony Murder under Florida Statute 782.051(1).
Livingston was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility and is being held without bond.
