NHC is giving the low in the gulf a 10% chance of development. Looking at the 925mb vorticity map. The low appears to be elongated but has increased significantly.
Tropical Atlantic
There is a tropical wave approaching the Windward Islands with decent convection and some 925mb vorticity. This wave should run into 25-40kt wind shear, which would inhibit development.
The convection for the tropical waves in the central tropical Atlantic and eastern tropical Atlantic has been decimated by the Saharan Air Layer.
